R.V.U.S.D. Nursing Services

Not long ago, every school site had a school nurse who sat at her desk and waited for a student to either fall down or sneeze. All she needed was a case of bandaids, a thermometer, and lots of tender loving care...

Today's school nursing practice is definded as "a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success and lifelong achievement and health of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health & safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning" (NASN 2009)

Our R.V.U.S.D. School Nurse Team rotates to all of our 8 elementary school sites and to our Rincon Valley Charter School in order to provide services. Please refer to our R.V.U.S.D. Nurses page for information about how best to reach us.

Whooping Cough (Tdap) Immunization requirement:

If your child has not had a Whooping Cough immunization since his/her 7th birthday, please contact your doctor for the Tdap booster shot. This immunization will protect your child against the ongoing threat of Pertussis. All incoming 7th Grade students will need to meet this new school requirement (California Law: AB354) in order to begin school next fall.

Please contact your school nurse if you have any questions regarding this new requirement.
