Is Independent study different from Home school?

Parents may request independent study when a student will be absent for five or more consecutive days. Teachers will provide packets of work to be completed during the student's absence and turned in when the student returns to school. Home school is a district program for students whose parents choose to do all school instruction at home. Please refer to the home school link on this website or call the district office for more information.

When will I know my child's test results?
The state standardized test results (STAR test) are reported to the district during the summer. Individual students' results are reviews at conference time in the fall. In addition to the standardized test, students in grades 2 - 6 are required to master District Academic Standards. These end-of-the-year standards are assessed in January, as a benchmark, and again in May; parents receive a special standards report twice per year with the student report card.

When do report cards come out?
There are three reporting periods during the school year - one ending in November, one ending in March, and the final evaluation at the end of school in June. Conferences are available following the fall and winter assessments. If you have concerns about your child's progress, please consult your child's teacher.
