Curriculum & Instruction
Outstanding curriculum and instruction is a top priority
of the Rincon Valley Union School District. Staff work to meet the
individual needs of each student, including both lower performing
and gifted learners. The curriculum taught throughout the District
supports student learning and achievement by providing an academic
foundation emphasizing critical thinking and the mastery of basic
skills within a challenging curriculum.
All curriculum is selected based upon evaluation and selection of
current and rigorous instructional materials which support all students
in their learning. Evaluation of programs and assessment of student
learning takes place annually. Teachers at all schools are provided
with the same core instructional materials, staff development, and
assessment tools. This consistency and continuity affords the district
the opportunity to carefully evaluate programs and student learning.
Student achievement is regularly assessed and progress toward established
targets monitored. Students not meeting academic targets receive additional
support through a system of tiered interventions designed to maximize
resources and ensure success.
