Junior Great Books

Through parent volunteers and classroom groupings, many students in the district participate in the Junior Great Books program.

Junior Great Books provides students experience in literary discussions, focusing on "Shared Inquiry." The discussions help students develop essential literacy skills—reading carefully, thinking critically, listening intently, and speaking and writing persuasively. Through reading selected short stories, thinking about interpretive questions, and participating discussion, Great Books students learn to read for meaning and to support their own interpretation of the text.

Parent volunteers are an essential part of the Junior Great Books program. For more information about Junior Great Books, email Merritt Booster.
