Physical education in Kindergarten through third grade is taught by the students’ classroom teachers. All teachers in the Rincon Valley Union School District have been trained to teach the SPARK curriculum. The activities and games at these levels focus primarily on body movement and coordination. The SPARK Program provides students with the opportunity to learn body control and teamwork prior to learning how to play traditional sporting activities.
In addition to the regular physical education sessions at the school sites, the Rincon Valley Union School District holds its annual All-District Track and Field Meet each year in May. All district fifth and sixth grade students convene at the Montgomery High School track to participate in a variety of track and field events.
This meet is the culmination of each schools ongoing
physical education program, and provides students with the opportunity
to take part in a positive competition that promotes sportsmanship
and school spirit. During the regular physical education program
at each school, students learn and practice the various events gaining
experience and building confidence prior to the track meet. All
fifth and sixth grade students are encouraged to compete in at least
one event. |
