All Eagles Soar, Whatever It Takes!

August 26, 2019

We are off to a great start! The students have been very patient while waiting for our play structure and field to be completed. We are hoping the "Big Toy" will be ready at the beginning of next week. The sod should be installed on our field this week and then we need to give it a chance to root before we run around on it, so I'll keep you posted on when that will be. Our theme of the month is "Be a friend. Make a friend." We are focusing on using friendly signals and as our Kimochis program teaches, "Friendly faces create friendly places".

A few important reminders:

  • Back to School Night is this Tuesday, August 27th! Remember, this is an event for only parents. Please secure childcare for your children so that you can connect with their teacher on expectations and information about the year ahead. We look forward to seeing you there!
    • 5:30 4-6 Grade classroom presentations
    • 6:05 Mrs. Acosta's presentation in the MPR
    • 6:30 K-3 classroom presentations

  • With our new parking lot, please remember that the pick up lane is the only place students should load or unload from cars. Please do not stop in the second lane and call your child to the car. If you park and pickup your child, please remember to use the crosswalk. It's in a different location, so we have to all get used to the new flow.

  • There will be NO SCHOOL on September 2nd due to the Labor Day holiday.

  • The "First Day of School" packet is now available electronically. If you have not completed it and have questions, drop by the office or call Mrs. Rossi.

  • Please remember that the earliest students should be dropped off in the morning is 7:45, when adult supervision begins.

  • We are excited to support the district's new Wellness Policy. We will no longer have food for in-class birthday celebrations. There are many alternatives that we can recommend, so please check with your child's teacher or in the office.

  • Our new Rincon Valley app and updated website are fantastic! You can access the cafeteria menu, news events, a calendar of scheduled events, emergency notifications, right from your pocket. Download the app on Android: http://bit.ly/2Zw1tSt or iPhone: https://apple.co/2ZmTWoG We will be phasing out our weekly emails because of these new communication tool, so please download the app and turn on notifications for Whited.

Have a wonderful week!

Warmly,

Beth Acosta
