Be a Binkley HERO by
Helping Everyone Respect Others
September 3, 2019
It was great to see all of you at Back to School Night last week! As a staff, we value our partnership with parents and appreciate that you took the time to connect with your child’s teacher. We are better and stronger for the children when we work together.
Our Kotowaza for the month of September is SORRY: Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody gets a re-do. We tell students it’s ok to make mistakes, we all do. We give second chances because we learn from our mistakes and can then make an effort not to repeat them in the future. Ask your child how s/he has been given a re-do or has offered an apology to others this week.
The Rincon Valley Music Academy is up and running! Binkley music teachers, Dan Hetzer, Andy Darrow, Ashley Holmber, Cody Martin, and Erin Garcia-Norris have some amazing units planned for your children. In Music Lab alone, children will be exploring how to play ukulele, music history and appreciation, lyrical analysis and song writing, and music movement, just to name a few.
Parking Lot: No parking zones are clearly marked for the safety of all students and families. Thank you to those of you who are respecting the parking lot procedures. It makes moving in and out of the parking lot much more efficient and safe. Remember, the staff lot is reserved for staff only and is off limits for student drop off and pick up.
RVUSD is Hiring: If you are looking for a job, RVUSD will accommodate you! Binkley is in desperate need of a food cashier and two noon-duty supervisors! The district also needs bus drivers and daycare personnel. Go to EDJOIN.org or drop by the District Office to apply.
A few important reminders:
The campus opens at 8:00 a.m. Unless your child is signed up for daycare, students are not allowed on campus before 8:00 a.m. There is adult supervision on the playground from 8:00-8:30 for all students. The kindergarten yard is not open at this time.
There are still many families that have not completed emergency information in the electronic "First Day of School" packet. If you haven't completed the online paperwork, please do so ASAP. Drop by or call our school office (707) 539-6060 with any questions.
Rincon Valley Education Foundation is sponsoring After-school Enrichment Classes. See the class schedule here to sign up. Many classes are at risk of cancellation unless they get 2-3 more students. Register by September 4th or they will be cancelled!
We are loving Rincon Valley’s new app and updated website! Download the app on Android: http://bit.ly/2Zw1tSt or iPhone: https://apple.co/2ZmTWoG. Because of these wonderful communication tools, we will be discontinuing our previous email distribution methods.
