Village has safety drills once a month.  I have attached the schedule of preliminary dates which may be subject to change on the website under documents - Village Safety Plan.  Students and staff are trained on what to do and how to prepare for any type of emergency.  These safety drills are held so that all students and staff know what to do.

Village had a safety drill last Friday, August 30th so that all new students knew what the alarm sounded like and so they also knew that we always lock down first.  Students wait until they hear further instructions on whether to evacuate or walk outside for a fire drill.  New protocols have been installed that have students always shelter in place first at all times.

Yesterday we had a precautionary safety shelter in place during morning snack recess.  The District Office had construction workers accidentally puncture a gas line and the district building was evacuated.  Although, Village was not asked to evacuate or shelter in place we decided to do so to ensure the safety of our students.  Students stayed indoors for recess as an added safety measure.

The next drill we have will be where students are on the playground.  The alarm will be heard and students will be directed to shelter in place or run to the nearest classroom.  Students will be instructed on what to do before the event.  We never want students to be afraid but we want to make sure they are prepared and know what to do for any type of emergency.
