GET INVOLVED AT SPRING CREEK MATANZAS!

Spring Creek Matanzas is looking for parent representatives to join two very important school committees:

  • School Site Council is looking for three to four parent representatives. School Site Council meets four times per year at Spring Creek from 7:30am to 8:15am. The purpose of SSC is to give input and help evaluate school and district goals. Our first meeting is Friday, September 27.

  • English Learners Advisory Council is looking for three to four parent representatives. It also meets four times per year at Spring Creek from 8:45am to 9:30am. The purpose of the ELAC is to give input and help evaluate school and district goals with specific regard to the unique needs of students and families who are English language learners. Our first meeting is Friday, September 27.

If you are interested in joining either SSC or ELAC (or both!), please contact me via email (kwestrich@rvusd.org) or phone (546-6183).

BASKETBALL AT MATANZAS

The Dolphins girls’ basketball team is looking great on the basketball court! Under the extraordinary coaching of Coach Parry, our diligent Dolphins displayed athleticism, teamwork, and a supportive community spirit as they faced off against Whited on Tuesday. Thursday they take on Austin Creek here at Matanzas. Go Dolphins!

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

The weeks of September 23rd and 30th are parent-teacher conferences. Meeting with your child’s teacher provides an excellent opportunity to not only get to know your child’s teacher and the curriculum expectations for the school year, but it is also a chance for you to help your child’s teacher get to know your child. You may want to prepare for your conference by reflecting on your child’s strengths, areas of challenge, interests, and talents to share with the teacher. This important information about your child helps teachers get to know your child not only as a scholar, but as a whole person. Conferences truly help teachers meet every student’s needs as they work in partnership with you and your student for a productive and successful year. Remember: The two weeks of parent-teacher conferences have a release time of 1:55 each day!
