Dear RVUSD Families,
A belated Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms out there. Ironically, Mother’s Day happened at the end of Teacher Appreciation Week, which this year makes a lot more sense: Moms and Dads have been true teachers for the past two months since we moved to Distance Learning. Hats off to all of you!! You are appreciated!
At no surprise, we are starting to get a variety of questions regarding next school year from staff and parents. As we close out our schools for the 19-20 school year, it is a natural time to plan and think through our needs for next year. However, we are still awaiting parameters and guidelines from the State and County to begin our planning in earnest. Our plan is to send an update to both staff and parents each week to keep everyone as informed as possible as we continue to move through this pandemic and its consequences together.
We hope to have a little more guidance after this week:
May 13th:
An educational working group is meeting with our County Public Health Officer to begin discussing the potential parameters in reopening of our local schools.
May 14th:
The State gives its 20-21 budget revision forecast including educational funding assumptions for the 20-21 school year.
Next week, we will be sending out initial staff and parent surveys to our RVUSD community to gather an initial “snapshot in time” of current perspectives on safety and returning to school physically.
We will begin to gather your questions and input as we move forward with a district task force and subcommittees that will work on the myriad of topics that must be considered as we attempt to create safe schools with physical distancing parameters. We know that there is so much on our minds in thinking of what the future may hold. We will figure this out together and do our best to keep you as informed as possible.

Estimadas familias de RVUSD:
Un feliz Día de las Madres para todas nuestras mamás. Irónicamente, el Día de las Madres sucedió al final de la Semana de Apreciación de los Maestros, que este año tiene mucho más sentido: las mamás y los papás han sido verdaderos maestros durante los últimos dos meses desde que nos mudamos a la educación a distancia. Felicitaciones a todos ustedes !! ¡Son apreciados!
Sin sorpresa, estamos comenzando a recibir una variedad de preguntas sobre el próximo año escolar del personal y los padres. A medida que cerramos nuestras escuelas para el año escolar 19-20, es un momento natural para planificar y pensar en nuestras necesidades para el próximo año. Sin embargo, todavía estamos esperando parámetros y pautas del Estado y el Condado para comenzar nuestra planificación en serio. Nuestro plan es enviar una actualización tanto al personal como a los padres cada semana para mantener a todos tan informados como sea posible mientras continuamos avanzando juntos en esta pandemia y sus consecuencias.
Esperamos tener un poco más de orientación después de esta semana:
13 de mayo:
Un grupo de trabajo educativo se reúne con nuestro Oficial de Salud Pública del Condado para comenzar a discutir los posibles parámetros en la reapertura de nuestras escuelas locales.
14 de mayo:
El Estado otorga su presupuesto a la Revisión de mayo, incluidas las suposiciones del financiamiento educativo para el año escolar 20-21.
La próxima semana, enviaremos encuestas iniciales al personal y a los padres de nuestra comunidad del RVUSD para reunir una "instantánea en el tiempo" inicial de las perspectivas actuales sobre seguridad y volver a la escuela físicamente.
Comenzaremos a recopilar sus preguntas y comentarios a medida que avancemos con un grupo de trabajo y subcomités del distrito que trabajarán en la miríada de temas que deben considerarse al intentar crear escuelas seguras con los parámetros de distanciamiento físico. Sabemos que hay mucho en nuestras mentes al pensar en lo que puede deparar el futuro. Resolveremos esto juntos y haremos todo lo posible para mantenerlo lo más informado posible.
