There is a potential PSPS event Wednesday into Thursday. If this shutdown occurs, it will be at Whited, Madrone, Binkley, RVCS-Sequoia, Sequoia and Austin Creek.
Village, Spring Creek, Matanzas and RVCS-Matanzas will not be affected.
There is a chance that there will not be a shutdown but if there is, here is the draft plan IF the latest information we have from PG&E does not change:
Wednesday: If we lose power it will not be until 2pm so all schools will be open on Wednesday. We will continue to offer extended care after school even without power.
Thursday: PG&E will start powering us back up on Thursday morning, on the earlier side. So, at this point in time we are planning on starting school without power if necessary knowing the power will come on some time during the school day. We are working on the details for sack lunches and phone communication guidelines.
We have checked with our insurance company and the California Department of Education and have learned that we can have staff and students on campus without power as long as we can determine it is safe. We will use fire watch protocols, lanterns, and ask students and staff to bundle up for the morning chill. We will use cell phones and walkie talkies to communicate and let families know how to reach school sites if they need to.
If there are any changes to this plan, we will be sure to let you know as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience during this uncertainty.
