Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! As we embark on this exciting journey of learning together, we want to emphasize the critical importance of regular attendance.
Did you know? Students who attend school regularly are more likely to:
-Build strong academic foundations
-Develop consistent learning routines
-Form meaningful relationships with peers and teachers
-Feel connected to our school community
Our goal this year is to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive, and that starts with being present. Even missing just 2 days a month can put your child at risk of falling behind academically.
Please help us make every day count by:
-Scheduling appointments outside school hours when possible
-Planning vacations during scheduled breaks
-Establishing consistent morning routines
-Communicating with us if your child will be absent
We're here to support your family! If you're facing challenges with attendance, please reach out to me at the District Office.
Looking forward to a wonderful year of learning together!
Sincerely,
Dr. Monica Fong

2025 Madrone Walk-A-Thon: "Madrone Ohana: Walking the Aloha Way"
Logo Design Contest
Calling all Madrone Students!! We want YOU to create the logo for Madrone's Walk-A-Thon on Friday, September 26th! The winning logo will be showcased on Walk-A-Thon t-shirts and all promotional items.
Please follow these design guidelines:
• Open to all students, TK-6
• Incorporate the following slogans (both English and Spanish) in the design of your artwork/logo:
• Madrone Ohana: Walking the Aloha Way
Familia Madrone: Caminando al Estilo Aloha
• Relate artwork to theme/slogan. This will be a Hawaiian Theme so images in artwork can include but are not limited to characters, scene locations, action scenes, etc.
• Must use no more than 3 colors
• Pick colors that are bright and bold. We recommend using markers or another saturated medium, but colored pencils or crayons will work as well.
• Don't forget to include your full name, grade, and teacher on the back!
• Helpful artwork tips:
• Artwork should be centered on the paper and fill spaces with vibrant colors
• images and wording that are larger and more defined are easier to see and will transfer better
• Keep all wording at least one inch from edge of paper
• Erase unwanted marks and smudges
• Color darkly (if finished artwork can be seen clearly from across the room, the logo will transfer well)
Submit your logo to your teacher by Friday, August 29th

Dear Rincon Valley Families,
We hope this message finds you well as the new school year is fast approaching. The Rincon Valley Union School District Superintendent, Amy Jones, has recently notified the District that she is needing to take a medical leave of absence. We understand that this news may raise concerns, but please know that Amy is receiving the necessary care and support.
During Amy's absence, the Board of Trustees has assigned Deputy Superintendent, Mike Herfurth, to serve in the role of Interim Superintendent. Mike brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this role, and we are confident in his ability to ensure continuity and stability within our District.
We are sending this email as we understand the importance of clear communication during times of transition, and we assure you that Mike will work closely with the administrative team to maintain the high standards of education and support that our students deserve.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate this situation together. We wish Amy the best during her medical leave and we remain committed to keeping you informed about any updates and changes throughout the school year.
We are looking forward to the new school year, and the staff is excited to see the students on August 14th.
