Excellence in Education

End of the 2025-26 School Year

Posted Date: 06/04/26 (04:00 PM)

Dear RVUSD Families,

As we conclude the 2025-26 school year, I want to take a moment to thank our students, families, staff, and community for their support, partnership, and commitment throughout the year.

While every school year brings opportunities and challenges, this year was particularly challenging for our district. Together, we faced significant budget reductions and made decisions that will impact our schools for years to come, including the difficult decision to close Whited Elementary School. These decisions were not made lightly and required thoughtful discussion, careful consideration, and a focus on preserving the long-term fiscal health of our district.

Throughout these challenges, I was continually inspired by the engagement and passion of our community. Hundreds of parents, staff members, and community members participated in forums, attended Board meetings, shared feedback, asked thoughtful questions, and advocated for what they believe is best for students. While not all of the decisions that were made were popular, I am proud of the way our community remained engaged in the process. Your voices helped inform our discussions and demonstrated how deeply our community cares about public education and the future of RVUSD.

Throughout the year, our schools remained places of learning, growth, and connection. Our students achieved remarkable things in the classroom and through countless activities and programs. Their resilience, creativity, and determination remind us every day why this work is so important.

I want to thank our dedicated employees. Our teachers, classified staff, administrators, and support teams continued to put students first, even while navigating uncertainty and change. Their commitment to serving children and families is what makes RVUSD such a special place.

For our sixth-grade students moving on to middle school and our eighth-grade students preparing for high school, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. We are proud of you and excited to see what lies ahead.

As we begin summer, I hope everyone has an opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire RVUSD team, thank you for your partnership and support throughout this school year.

We look forward to welcoming our students back on August 19. The Board of Trustees will be considering approval of the 2026-27 school year calendar at its meeting next week. Following Board action, we will share the approved calendar with families and staff.

Have a wonderful summer!
