Interim Superintendent Announcement

Dear RVUSD Community-

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Matthew Harris will be serving as our Interim Superintendent, pending board approval at our next Board Meeting. The Board has engaged his leadership through June 30, 2027, during which time we will continue our formal search for a new superintendent.

Mr. Harris most recently worked as the Superintendent of Petaluma City Schools for 5 years. He brings more than two and a half decades of experience as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. His tenure as a teacher included working as a dual-language Spanish immersion educator. 

As Interim Superintendent, Mr. Harris looks forward to working closely with students, staff, families, the Board of Trustees, and the broader community to build on the District's many strengths while ensuring stability, transparency, and continued focus on student learning and well-being. His leadership will support RVUSD’s commitment to educational excellence, strong community partnerships, and the success of every student.
