Introduction of our New Interim Superintendent, Matthew Harris

Dear RVUSD Community,

Hello! My name is Matthew Harris, and it is an honor to have been appointed as Rincon Valley Union School District's Interim Superintendent last night.

As a father, educator, former principal, and former superintendent, I believe that every child deserves an outstanding education, a safe and welcoming school environment, and caring adults who help them thrive. My journey in education began in the classroom as an elementary teacher, and those experiences continue to guide my decisions today.

Over the past fourteen years in educational leadership, I have remained committed to supporting students, empowering staff, partnering with families, and building strong, trusting school communities. What drew me to Rincon Valley is its tradition of excellence, dedicated educators, engaged families, and deep sense of community pride.

As I begin this role, I want families to know that our students remain at the center of every decision we make. Our schools are supported by exceptional teachers, staff, and administrators whose dedication to children is evident every day. My commitment is to provide steady leadership, maintain a strong focus on teaching and learning, and work collaboratively with our Board of Trustees and school communities to ensure continuity, stability, and excellence throughout the district.

I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside our students, staff, families, Board of Trustees, and community partners. Together, we will build on the strong foundation that already exists and continue creating school communities where every child can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
